May Nuggets of Inspiration & Wisdom

Hello survivors <3

How do you spell changes? A-N-X-I-E-T-Y. Lots has been happening in my personal life, all wonderful and positive situations we have been working toward, but nevertheless they are changes in our everyday lives. For someone, ahem me, who handles changes with less than desirable/useful amounts of nervousness, this results in lots and lots of even less desirable/useful quantities of anxiety. As a result I have not been able to write. Instead I have been filling my time with small tasks that I can easily complete. Sigh, my humanity is shining through again, bleh!

What’s new at Surviving Life’s Curveballs

Ann Castro and I are now working on chapter 14 of the book, woohoo! Yes, despite my mountains of useless worry I continue to move forward on this project.

The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood

Wow! I LOVE this book and I fell deeper in love with it after I heard the author speak about how she came up with the story.

The Diary of Anais Nin Volume 4 1944-1947

Anais helps me though my anxiety by diving deep into human relationships, examining them in a meaningful way no other author has ever done before (that I have read). She pulls me from the brink of giving up showing me that we are all simply people and yet also complex, emotional, infinitely contradictory.

American Gods by Neil Gaiman

Incredible story. Pagans vs. Christianity vs. Money, Power, & Greed, who will win? Shadow, a recent prison parolee is down to less than a week left of his sentence when he receives the news that his wife was killed in a car accident. Once released and nowhere to return home to Mr. Wednesday offers him a job. The job is full of gods, dreams, and moral corruption. Will Shadow end up right back in prison?

I am fascinated by Neil Gaiman’s imagination. His forward for the book tells of how he travelled across America writing this story. What was it about America that spawned such a dark and twisted tale?

Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky

I tried, really tried to push through this book, but I could not. It’s not that the story is bad because it isn’t, it was just not something I enjoyed reading.

Much smaller list than usual, again yay anxiety.

Daily OM A Year to Clear What’s Holding You Back- The class is over, but I did not complete several lessons because I was finishing my book. This class is going to help me with my second or third book. I’m not sure how they will play out exactly, YET!

Update: Yep, I still need to finish this class. Curse you crippling anxiety!

How to ADHD on Youtube- If you know anyone who has ADHD or loves someone with ADHD this is the best resource I have ever found. Please share it with them.

Nothing currently because…anxiety.

How about you? What are you watching, reading, or what has inspired you this past month?
